Setup:

The longer irons are larger for more forgiveness while the mid- and short-irons transition slightly smaller to ensure more workability and control on approach shots.

Face:

Soft, durable stainless steel club heads.

Sole:

Offers superior control to play a variety of shots

Toe:

● Multi-metal design features a dense tungsten toe weight

● Helps increase the moment of inertia in the stainless steel head which offers workability with cavity back forgiveness

Pros: PING put a lot of technology into an iron that should appeal to most low-to-mid handicappers. The i15s are probably the most balanced irons PING has produced and provides seamless performance from three iron through pitching wedge.

Cons: Following in the idea of the Rapture V2 irons, PING is now leaning toward gaudier clubs that are apparently designed to have a definite shelf life. These are not designed to be classics.

Discovering the Bridgestone e6+ ball

Bridgestone e6+ Ball

Last season, while doing some golf equipment research on the internet, I discovered the Bridgestone e6+ ball. So, I toddled off to the closest sporting goods store and purchased 2 dozen, to give them a try. Being a senior and needing extra distance, I was pleasantly surprised. They added about 15 much needed yards to my drives.

Of course, as with every golf ball, there are performance PROs and CONs that need to be considered. For this ball:

PRO: Extra distance, straightness (due to reduced spin) and softness.

CON: Lack of short game spin

I really enjoy the soft feel on a well struck hit with this ball, and the extra roll on the drives. However, adjustments were required around the green because of the lack of spin. I don’t spin the ball much, so I had to change one club in additional loft for all the various distances of short approach shots. Without the additional loft, the ball was running well past the pin. Now I play more “pitch and run” shots.

It will continue to be my ball for 2010.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention, they’re about half the price of the Titleist Pro V1.

Flight Control Technology (FCT)

TaylorMade’s Flight Control Technology (FCT) allows the player to easily adjust a metalwood’s loft, lie and face angle
FCT utilizes a metallic sleeve positioned over the tip of the shaft. The sleeve can be rotated into different positions, changing the characteristics of the head, by loosening the bolt that secures the sleeve and shaft into the clubhead.

Movable Weight Technology

Movable Weight TechnologyTM (MWT®), is discretionary clubhead weight that can be easily redistributed by the player to change the characteristics of the club.
By moving differently weighted cartridges, using a proprietary TaylorMade® wrench, into strategically positioned ports, CG location can be optimized per golfer.
Positioning more weight in the heel and less in the toe, speeds club head rotation during the forwardswing, which promotes a draw and/or reduces a slice.

Inverted Cone Technology (ICT)

The Inverted Cone is CNC-milled directly into the inner side of the clubface, resulting in a drastic variation in face thickness. ICT optimizes the way the clubface behaves at impact to create an expanded COR zone.
Inverted Cone Technology has been incorporated into every TaylorMade® driver since the R500 SeriesTM.

Ultra-Thin Wall Technology

Ultra-Thin Wall Technology is a casting process that allows thinner clubhead walls than found in most competitive drivers. The saved weight is critical to making the incorporation of MWT and FCT possible in certain TaylorMade metalwoods.

Why Buy Clone Golf Clubs

Today’s Clone Golf Clubs: Are they a good buy?

Price and quality……the almighty dollar still rules! Most clone golf clubs are sold direct to the customer, primarily through the internet, without middleman costs. There are no professional golfers’ endorsements, retailers’ mark-ups or distribution costs to pay. The result is that clones cost approximately 1/3 the price of name brand clubs.

In addition, the golf club manufacturing industry has changed in recent years, with the manufacturing of ALL golf club heads moving off-shore from the United States. This includes the major brands which were forced in this direction in order to remain cost-competitive. Now, many club head models are manufactured in the same foundries, including name brands, clone brands, and even illegal copy-cat models.

The term “clone golf clubs” has become less significant with these changes in manufacturing. Similar materials, designs and manufacturing sites have made all golf clubs more equal to each other. Of course, as in any industry, there are still several poor quality products available. The main point regarding cloning is that it is no different in the golf club industry than in automobiles, appliances, computers, games, etc. In every industry, manufacturers are producing and selling products that look and perform like the products of their competitors. There are existing patent rights which must be observed but, over time, golf club products begin to look and perform the same.

How to buy clone golf clubs

As with any purchase, know your supplier. Be sure that you are purchasing from a reputable company that offers good warranties and a trial period. A warranty period of one year, minimum, and a trial period of at least 30 days should suffice. If you’re unsure of a supplier, call them and ask questions about warranties, trial periods, delivery time, and shipping methods. You will gain a better feeling that the supplier is reliable, or not.

Most clone club providers offer a wide choice of options that allow the buyer to custom fit their clubs to their personal needs. The choices, in many cases, are many more than the choices offered by the name brand providers.
